As our letter suggested, we hope to co-create this course with you. This is not the first time any of us have taught the literature of our country, but it is the first time we've taught it in the context of
myth. To that end, we ask for your patience, your interest, your effort, and your help.
There are three of us teaching the course. Most of you will have two of us as teachers, which means you'll change at the semester. To
that end, we're going to try to keep things as consistent as possible between us, so that no matter which teacher you have 2nd semester, you can rest assured you all had similar exposure to and experiences with the material and ideas. However, since we all know time isn't
really linear, and neither are
ideas, expect things to change slightly from the syllabi below throughout the semester, as we discover things about ourselves, each other, the texts, our American myths. We'll need some wiggle room, especially on the smaller stuff. In any case, here is the tentative broadstroke of ideas and texts (once we discover links to useful resources, we'll add them!):
